New: detecting greynet software, low free disk space, new hardware views

We have completed the roll out of release 2.644 which includes the following new features:

Detecting GreyNet Software – according to wikipedia, greynet software is software that is installed by the end-user without the explicit permission of the network administrator. There are applications that do not belong in an enterprise environment as they either create a risk to the systems or consume system resources. Examples includes games, file-sharing and p-2-p programs, and personal file-servers, to name a few:

Running low on free space? - SAManage can now detect computers that are running low on free space, so that you can take action before your mail server runs out of space or your users start experiencing performance issues. To monitor free disk space across your computers, go to Setup -> Risks and adjust the free space threshold (the threshold is calculated as a percentage of the total disk space available). Any alerts on computers with low free space would pop up in the risks section.

The default setting for new accounts is “verify only boot disks”, with the threshold set to alert when the free space falls below %10 of the total disk space. You can customize this to your specific needs.

New workstation view – by operating system
- we added another view that lets you easily view all your computers based on the operating system they run. To access the view, go to inventory -> workstations and select the “by Operating System” view, and click the filter to select any specific operating systems. Time to check who is still running Windows NT 4.0 in your network…

Adding more users - account administrators can now add more users to the account. This is useful to enable access to your inventory and contract to other users within your company, or extend access to external business partners. Account Administrators can assign specific roles to each user to control the access to information. To add users, go to setup -> uses -> new and type the user information. Once saved, the user would get an email inviting him to activate his new account.
