Kadenza Case Study

Background

Kadenza is a Netherlands-based provider of Enterprise Intelligence solutions. Companies of all types and sizes rely on Kadenza to help them leverage their corporate information more strategically to measure, control, and improve core operations. By helping them link the use of IT systems to key company activities, Kadenza empowers it's clients to improve planning, processes, and business results.

With more than 100 professionals on staff, Kadenza has successfully completed projects for such leading local companies as Nationale Postcode Loterij, LeasePlan, de Alliantie and Zeeman.

Challenges

As a technology consulting firm, Kadenza owns a large number of assets, including desktop PCs, laptops, and servers. These systems (more than 100 in total) were previously tracked using Excel spreadsheets – a process that proved to be less than effective.

"We needed a better way to manage these assets," said Erik Leene, one of Kadenza's founders. "Additionally, we wanted to add mobile phones and devices into the mix, because we have many of them, and they were not well monitored."

Further compounding the problem is the fact that company consultants are rarely in the office, spending most of their time visiting customer sites. This made it difficult to manage requests for additional software, and track other important information needed to properly manage the assets throughout their lifecycle.

Solution

Kadenza set out to acquire a new IT asset management (ITAM) system. Because of the "on the road" nature of their staff, finding one that could track remote systems was crucial.

"We knew that, since traditional IT asset management software would give us only limited visibility into these assets as they move around from site to site, we needed an ITAM environment that is cloud-based," Leene stated. "Our consultants rarely connect to the company network, but we still need to know all the details about the devices and solutions they are using."

According to Leene, Kadenza chose SAManage because of its seamless integration with Google Apps, its simple GUI, and its fast, easy set up.

Benefits

Leene and his team have high expectations for the SAManage service. With SAManage in place, they believe they will achieve greater insight into the hardware, software, and other components they currently own, as well as all their mobile phones and devices.

"We are confident that SAManage will give us a greater understanding of our IT asset management activities, making them more efficient and more accurate than ever before," Leene concluded.

"And, most importantly, we've been very pleased with the support we've received from go-ESI (the partner representing SAManage in the EMEA region). They were extremely helpful throughout the entire process, and made sure all our needs were met."
