Burgmann Anglican School Eases Technological Growth with Automation and Visibility into Assets
Founded in 1999, Burgmann Anglican School is a two-campus school located in Canberra, Australia. With 1,600 students from preschool to grade 12, the school provides a supportive and inspirational environment to develop students full intellectual and personal potential.
Due to a rising need for technology upgrades and new devices, Burgmann Anglican School’s growing technological requirements made asset management increasingly difficult. Using Landsweeper, the school was limited to collecting basic information about their devices, which did not provide the IT team with true visibility into all their assets. Because they did not have the ability to compile and analyze all asset information Burgmann Anglican School’s IT team experienced ongoing issues with data collection that resulted in an onslaught of manual work for their internal teams. “If my manager wanted a report of all of the machines that needed updating or replacing, it would require a lot of manual work to get that information out of our old system,” said Hannah Robinson, ICT Learning Support Technician at Burgmann Anglican School.
Another of Robinson’s concerns with the current asset management system was accountability. “Without a true asset management solution, I had to physically walk the campuses, talk to staff and say ‘I heard you might have this device’,” said Robinson. “I needed to be able to assign and hold people accountable for their devices. With a more comprehensive asset management solution, I would be able to easily share location, lifecycle, and maintenance information on all of our devices with my boss.”
Because of this need, Robinson and her team began the search for an asset management solution that would make their lives easier and give them the asset reporting capabilities they were currently lacking.
With large technology purchases and implementations on the horizon, Burgmann Anglican School needed a platform that would simplify the process of initiating new tools across their campuses. They chose Samanage based on several criteria, including:
- Seamless Zendesk integration that allowed linked contracts and auto-populated information between their current service desk software and Samanage.
- Ability to report detailed analytics on all assets across both campuses.
- Ease of use and implementation.
But checking boxes on the IT team’s list wasn’t the only reason Burgmann Anglican School chose Samanage. “There’s been a lot of support and communication from the Samanage team, but the most surprising aspect of choosing Samanage was how little work I had to do in order to get implemented,” said Robinson. “I was able to send the agent to one of our help desk team members, who quickly understood the software and suddenly, I had all the information I could need with very little work on my end.”
