IT Asset Management
Management with Scripts
“We very often need to know an exact installation on specific machines and can do so fluidly with Samanage.”
Integral Consulting Moves IT Asset Management from On-Premise to the Cloud
Integral Consulting Inc. is a national science and engineering firm providing multidisciplinary services in the fields of health, environment, technology, and sustainability. The company offers a full range of scientific and engineering consulting for industry, the public sector, ports, nonprofits, and law firms.
Founded in 2002, Integral Consulting has a proven track record of developing innovative and cost-effective solutions to the complex technical challenges facing its clients. With 14 offices throughout the United States, Integral Consulting helps clients make informed decisions, manage risk effectively, and identify optimal solutions by applying its outstanding science and engineering expertise.
Integral Consulting Inc. found itself in the position of using an on-site IT asset management system that was no longer supported. They needed to find a new IT asset management solution and wanted to remain with a hosted solution rather than establishing an on-site system with their own servers. “No need to manage yet another server,” said Doug Carbaugh.
Because Integral Consulting is spread out over a large geographic area, and because so much of their work has to be done in the field, they needed IT asset management that could be implemented quickly, that would scale up along with company growth, and that would be consistent company-wide.
The company chose Samanage due to “high rating, robust features, ease of deployment and management.”
Integral Consulting found Samanage extremely easy to manage with scripts. “We very often need to know an exact installation on specific machines and can do so fluidly with SAManage,” said Carbaugh.
Even when consultants are at job sites and work unconnected to the company’s network, the company still needs to accurately track details about the hardware and software they use, and Samanage’s cloud-based asset management solution makes this job much more efficient.
What’s more, the Samanage solution allowed the company to do things they were not able to do in the past. For example, the company could implement automatic warranty reporting, or extract an OS key, which was “not necessary, but kind of cool.”
The key benefits of Samanage’s IT asset management solution for Integral Consulting included Dell warranty reporting, extensive system and asset reporting, and detailed, custom reporting. Furthermore, says Carbaugh, the company could “view more system details than before, strip though all of the installed software, and get down to the basics without having to sift through updates and other tedious processes.”
The team at Integral Consulting will be able to better track and manage hardware and software they already own, plus mobile devices, and adding new hardware and software to the IT asset management program will be quick and easy. The result is greater efficiency, no worries about software upgrades, and no need to run “yet another server.”
